The music for the most part is done, and just really doing final tweeks to those. Started to record vocals today, as I am good with where the lyrics are at right now.
The verses are from my time working restaurant jobs. They tell of my experience, emotions, and the things I specifically remember from specific restaurants.
The chorus is how the 9-5 makes me feel these days, and the words come from my years working in the restaurant industry. Things I saw, heard, witnessed, or did myself. The chorus adds a bit of the visualization of the “kitchen” car in the movie “snowpiercer”. This is served in the most American fashion, as a deep fried dish.
I have always wanted to write music for film. But as I’ve grown older, navigated a career, and become a father, those “someday” opportunities started to feel further away.
This year, I decided to stop waiting for permission. Climbing the Stairs is the result of that shift—a cinematic, electronic instrumental born from the idea that if the film doesn’t exist yet, I’ll just have to build it around the music.
It’s atmospheric, mood-driven, and a little bit haunting. I’m currently editing the visual project that goes with this track, but I wanted to share the soundscape with you first.
This is the first album that I have written, arranged, produced, and most specifically engineered all from scratch. This is mostly in an electronic genre and is quite the departure from what people would normally see me play live.
