Generally you need to do a full cleaning of your backyard coop/ run/ etc. around once every 3 months. By this, I mean the area around the chickens. The nesting boxes you have to keep much cleaner. Those I try and do about once a month. This is where you chicken is going to lay eggs, so you want it a bit cleaner than other things. I also do the $h!t tray, or whatever it is called the same frequency that I do the nesting box.
The chicken $h!t, i generally put in our outdoor composting piles. Any dropping I scrap off the outside of the “house” or “roof” I collect and mash together with some dirt, and use it as a psuedo compost, along with the real stuff. I’ll show that off one time in a video in the future.
